Dear Quinn: 7 & 8 Months

Dear Quinn,

You are now 8 months old.  You turned eight months, on Tuesday, February 28th.  Eight months, since we brought your sweet little being into this big world of ours.  Eight whole months!  Can you believe that baby girl?
A lot has happened over these eight months.  I’m sorry I never got around to writing your 7 month post.  Your mom is a procrastinator but let’s really call it what it is…its laziness.  I hope you don’t inherit this “trait”.
So much has happened over the last couple of months!
In the last couple of months we’ve expanded your palette of foods.  We now give you a fruit mixed with oatmeal for breakfast, a vegetable for lunch and a dinner, well for dinner.  Your favorites are anything fruit (you LOVE fruit), carrots, sweet potatoes and corn, macaroni and cheese, turkey & rice and chicken noodle.  You also love yogurt which we love to give you on occasion.  I hope you love it this much as an adult.

We have started giving you finger foods.  You understand the concept of picking it up with your precious little fingers and putting it to your mouth, but food tends to get lost in your little fists so mommy and daddy always help to get in your mouth.  We’ve tried Yogurt Melts, banana and sweet potato puffs, Baby Mum Mums and small chunks of banana.  You are already a messy eater!  Sadly, you get that from me.

Between meals, you usually take around 4-6 ounces of formula and we always get your belly full of formula before you go to bed.  We’ve also been giving you a sippy cup more often.  Once you grab on to that cup, there’s not letting go!  You absolutely love apple juice.  We’ve also given you pear and white grape juice.
You usually want to go to bed anywhere between 6:30 – 7:30 p.m. depending on the day and sleep until 7 a.m the next morning.  You make little noises when you sleep but not enough to wake mommy.  Daddy hears every sound though.
Bath time is one of your favorites.  You love the freedom of splashing around in the water and boy, can you splash!  Your little smile is the prettiest when you’re bathing.  That’s how we know you love it!
You are now 17 pounds 4 ounces and 26 ½ inches long.  You are in size 2 diapers, ready to move on to size 3.You still wear 3-6 month clothes but they are starting to get a bit snug and a little short so it’s time to start putting you in 6-9 month clothes.  I just bought you a bunch of 6-9 month clothes for the spring/summer since you are about 2 months behind in the growth department.  I’ve heard that the smaller you are, the cuter you are!
You’ve had a few bad colds over the last couple of months and two have resulted in ear infections.  The first ear infection was discovered on January 6th and the second was on February 27th.  Even though we know you don’t feel good, you still seem to have a big smile on your face most of the time.

You’ve been talking a lot more and thankfully have gotten out of your happy screaming phase.  The last couple of weeks you’ve discovered the B sound.  Daddy took you to see great grandpa on February 16th and you were really chatty the entire time.  Everyone thought that you said mama!  MAMA!  Can you believe that?  I can’t wait to hear it.  The only other word that we think you can say is “Yeah”.  You say it at appropriate times, like when we’ve asked you a question so I don’t know if you really understand it or not and if you’re actually saying it or just sighing with a little noise.  Either way, we’ll take it.

You are quite the mover and shaker.  You are an expert at rolling.  You roll everywhere!  Sometimes I have mini heart spasms when I walk in the living room and I can’t see you.  It’s only because you’ve rolled away from the spot I’ve left you and are “hiding”.  Speaking of hiding, you love to hide your pacifier and toys under blankets or the couch.
ROLL, SPIN, ROLL!

Crawling is a different story.  You are able to get up on your knees, rocking back and forth and scooting backwards.  Just this past Sunday you made your first couple movements forward.  It’s only a matter of days until you really change our world.  Thankfully, we’ve had the house baby proofed for a few months now so we are ready for you!

We officially put your baby swing and bouncy chair away this past weekend.  While it makes me a little sad, I’m also happy because you’re becoming such a big girl.  I attempted to put you in the swing a couple weeks ago and it looked like you were on a carnival ride.  You were having a lot of fun but that kind of stuff is dangerous!  You love, love, love your Jumperoo and nothing us happier than watching laugh, talk and have fun in it!

Speaking of laughing, your belly laugh is the cutest and funniest thing I’ve ever seen and heard.  You laugh at the weirdest things but there is nothing we wouldn’t try to get a giggle out of you.  The other day, you thought it was hilarious watching me work and sweat it out.  It’s so hard to concentrate on my workout with you giggling at me.

You give the best little kisses and by kisses, I mean you take my face in your hands and slober all over my cheeks.  For some reason, you don’t give daddy these types of kisses but I think that has to do with his facial hair or maybe it’s because I’m always giving you kisses and blowing on your chubby little cheeks.  You do love squeezing daddy’s nose though.
We’ve thoroughly enjoyed the last eight months watching you grow and learn every single day.  You’ve made our lives so much better and I don’t know what our life would be like without you in it.  You literally make our world go round and we cannot wait to continue to watch you grow.

Happy eight months baby girl!  We love you!
