Date Night

My dear husband asked me out on a date this week.
His plan was to take me to a movie.
First off, you all should know that
1) this never happens - a date out with the man without the babe
2) taking me to a movie.
I told him which movies were playing at our "local" theater.
To my surprise, he picked "This Means War".
We "pretended" to be on a first date which is actually not far off because it has been a long time since we gone on a real date.

He blocked me from the popcorn bowl so I had to go get a container of my own to fill.
He said some raunchy things that cannot be repeated on here.
You know, things you would never do on an actual first date.

The best part was that there was only 10 people in the entire theater, so we were able to get real cozy in our seats.
(But not that cozy you perverts!)

Sample of part of the night:
R: leans over and puts her hand on top of his in an attempt to hold his hand
B:  looking at her, What?
B: still staring, What?
R: Oh my god, I was just trying to hold your hand!
B: Oh.
We really need to date more.

Two top CIA operatives wage an epic battle against one another after they discover they are dating the same woman.

I loved this movie.
It's the perfect date movie.
There are many action scenes for the men, it's chick flicky for the women and hilarious overall.
The banter between the men was very funny.
Chelsea Handler is in it so duh, it's going to be good.
Chelsea's husband in the film is the exact man I think she would end up with in real life.  Exact.
I think the best part is the premise of the movie - 2 guys, 1 girl.

I'll give 4 out of 5 stars.
It would be 5 out of 5 but the beginning started out a little slow and for a second, I thought the men were in love with each other.

So, skip The Hunger Games this weekend and go see this!

Book Club: Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me

I finished Valley of the Dolls last weekend...finally.  Overall a juicy and fun read.  You think you know what is going to happen and then everything changes. I'm a little disappointed in some of the characters.  I thought they would be stronger and stand up for themselves more than they actually did.  I've never felt so much emotion for a character than I did for Anne's toward the end of the book.  It was fun reading a book that took place in the 50's and 60's like this one did.  Just makes you realize how life was for people during these time period's.

I wanted a real good laugh as my next read so I picked up "Lies That Chelsea Handler Told Me" which I've had on my bookshelf since this summer.

'My tendency to make up stories and lie compulsively for the sake of my own amusement takes up a good portion of my day and provides me with a peace of mind not easily attainable in this economic climate.' - Chelsea Handler, from Chapter 10 of Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang It's no lie: Chelsea Handler loves to smoke out 'dumbassness,' the condition people suffer from that allows them to fall prey to her brand of complete and utter nonsense. Friends, family, co-workers - they've all been tricked by Chelsea into believing stories of total foolishness and into behaving like total fools. Luckily, they've lived to tell the tales and, for the very first time, write about them.

Once again, I wasn't disappointed.  Even though this isn't written by Chelsea herself, just the morons she surrounds herself with, it's still freaking hilarious.  I can't believe after all the fucking with she does, they still believe things that come out of her loud, Jewish mouth.  It's not only that.  She somehow masterminds anyone around her into being in on her hijinks of whomever has fallen prey.  Not only that, her lies could go on for days, weeks and even month.

Seriously, she hangs around some pretty stupid people.  Funny, but stupid.  This little fact makes Chelsea genius but we already knew that.  I wish I could lie like Chelsea can.  Any joke or lie I've conjured up lasts about an hour but I do love to mess with anyone, especially the non-smart.

This is a definite, must read if you love Chelsea or have a sense of humor (as are all of her other books).  If you dislike vulgarity, you're not going to Chelsea and we probably can't be friends.

10 Day YOU Challenge {Books}

Four books:

{one}
 The Da Vinci Code by Dan Brown

This is hands down, probably my favorite book.  Such a good, interesting, keep you entertained and on the edge of your seat, read.  It's a must read for all.  I don't even get into the whole religion aspect of it that a bunch of people had a problem with when the movie came out.  Either way, it was an engaging book.  Angels & Demons is also a very good read by the same author.

{two}
My Horizontal Life by Chelsea Handler

Hilarious!  She's had some very interesting rendezvous'.

{three}
The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

I'm a huge fan of all Nicholas Sparks' work.  You know him as the author of many books that have been turned into movies (A Walk To Remember, Dear John, Message In A Bottle, The Notebook...).  The Guardian is my favorite of all his work.  It's thrilling with a side of romance.  Good read if you're looking for something that is easy and intriguing.

{four}
Anything Harry Potter.

Such a good series that is not just for kids.  I have only read the first three but the last four are on my 'to read' list which these days is about 4865465455.6 miles long.  I want to know how it ends!

What are your favorite books?  Any must-reads?

Throwin' It Back Thursday vol. 2

This Thursday sucks big balls!  I was of course late to work or later than I wanted to get here which in turn only prolongs the hour in which I get to leave this lovely place (but what's new!?).  Had what felt like hours and hours on end of calls and took a late lunch.  While on my way back from lunch, I got stuck by the freaking train downtown.  When this happens, you basically have two choices: walk 82 blocks out the way or wait.  I waited (for the second day in a row) and froze my toes off.  I know, poor me...

Ducking trains....

After work brings grocery shopping and working out.  Seriously, this day can suck it.  I want my sweatpants, NOW!

Did I mention that my parents are currently in Mexico??  Taking in the beautiful weather, drinks and anything else Mexico has to offer (which is a hell of a lot more than Iowa can muster up right now).  They do deserve it.  How they've managed to care for 5 kids and go so long without taking a real, relaxing vacation is crazy to me.  If you ever meet any of my brothers and sister you would completely understand (HA! I hope you all are reading).  Sometimes I feel as though my family life resembles that of Chelsea Handler only my dad isn't completely crazy. But yes, Sloane is my sister.

I need a drink.

Ok, enough getting off subject (stop distracting me!).  There is a real reason you're taking the time to read this...

What can turn a sucky day into something semi-fantastic?? Music.

Music puts people in better moods unless it's Kesha (oh, sorry I forgot the $ sign).  How this garbage sack wearing hobo chick ever got a record deal is beyond me.  Apparently whoever signed this thing is tone deaf.  She should've stopped at Tik Tok (or maybe not even made that either)....I would have personally thanked her.  Of course, my sister loves her.  End of rant.

On to the goods....
Who doesn't love a little Bob Marley?!

The following song makes me feel better about my day.  It's a perfect rainy day song.
